Finding the brewery is no easy feat, but it is possible! Drake’s is located behind the Westgate Shopping Center at 1933 Davis Street, Bldg. 177, in San Leandro, California.
- Take Highway 880 to the Davis Street exit.
- Turn left onto Davis Street if you’re exiting from 880-N, or right onto Davis Street if you’re exiting from 880-S.
- Turn left onto Westgate Parkway, and follow until you get to Walmart.
- Turn right into the Walmart parking lot, and follow all the way to the back—past the Walmart entrance and to the left of Sports Authority. Drake’s will seemingly appear out of nowhere, and you will have arrived.
AC Transit: You can also use public transportation to get to Drake’s. Take BART to the San Leandro stop, and hop onto AC Transit Bus #89 Counter-clockwise*, leaving every 30 minutes. The 89 stops inside the Westgate Center, next to Walmart. Get off and walk between Walmart and Sports Authority to get to Drake’s. The 89 Clockwise can bring you back to BART.
*-The 89 route is a loop, so both directions will get you here, but counter-clockwise from BART is far more direct.
San Leandro LINKS: The San Leandro LINKS free shuttle also runs from San Leandro BART to the Westgate Center (stop #4 on their map) from 3pm to 7pm on weekdays.
Bicycles & Pedestrians: If you’re coming from San Leandro BART, we’d recommend taking Williams Street from San Leandro Ave. It’s parallel to Davis St., it’s a lot quieter, and it has bike lanes. Exiting the BART station, head south (turn right) onto San Leandro Blvd, turn right on Williams, turn right on Westgate Parkway, then take the first left behind the Walmart, and you’ll see us on the right. Taxis: There are usually a few taxis lined up at the San Leandro BART station, and it’s usually about $10 with tip (bring cash). If the driver doesn’t know where Drake’s is, say “the Walmart on Davis St” and that’ll get you here. You may want to ask for a business card from the driver if you’re planning to leave by cab.
